Same Day Crowns, Onlays & Veneers
Traditional dental crowns take several weeks for the
dental lab to create involving many steps of hands on actions by the dental lab
technician. Computer aided design and manufacture has dramatically changed
dentistry to the benefit of the patient in many ways. After the tooth is
prepared a conventional impression is taken then scanned into a dedicated
computer system using a low level laser. A highly skilled and trained
technician uses state of the art software to design an ideal, 3D crown. The
digital data is sent to our custom milling station where a solid block of
porcelain is transformed into the new crown, all in the same day.
know that your life is busy, so this technology avoids multiple appointments
and weeks of waiting. Also, while the crown is being designed and milled, many
of our patients will run errands or return home until we call them ofre the
final phase of the procedure.
After the new crown is bonded/cemented in
place, it looks and feels like a real tooth. Conventional crowns containing
metal do not allow x-rays to go through the metal. These strong, natural crowns
do allow the x-rays to go through the tooth and crown so any decay or other
issues can be seen and treated before they get worse.
